About this deal

Many fans of the Triumph 18 may have noticed that the platform of the Triumph is nearly identical. The T19 midsole has a generous amount of PWRRUN+ foam that is capped off with, to the best of my knowledge, a thin layer of Everun. Despite the trend in running shoes to completely scrap a shoe after each iteration to try something new Saucony has leaned into the if it ain’t broke… approach. A substantial lightening of the shoe, making it more competitive with other models like Puma Velocity, whose upper is lined with an inner sleeve

This sole I found to have a nice density to it, and by that I mean it’s not Mushy. It is definitely not by any definition the softest midsole available but fits comfortably between firm responsiveness and a soft pillow feel. They are very comfortable with just the right amount of cushioning for any distance and terrain. The reviewers who tried the T19 are unanimous on the subject: there’s nothing to complain about this simple and effective outsole. The grip is excellent on its favorite playground, the asphalt, and even wet pavement after a good heavy rain. It also works very well on dry trails or gravel roads. Although it’s technically a heavy shoe, on par with other luxe trainers like the Brooks Glycerin 19 and Altra Paradigm 6, the Triumph rides light and bouncy. Giving it that energetic sensation is a Pwrrun+ midsole and top sole, introduced in the shoe’s 17th version. Pwrrun+ foam is 28 percent lighter than the Saucony’s original Pwrrun; it’s supportive for easy long runs, and responsive during tempo runs and workouts. “The Triumph 19 feels like running on big, spongy paws,” raved one tester who typically runs in Asics Gel-Kayanos. “Like a Kayano, they’re somewhat stiff and solid, but also nicely soft.”The little plus appreciated by users: the vertical reflective cage in the heel for safe night runs. The result of the Saucony Triumph 19’s soft, responsive cushioning is a smooth and lively ride. Runners appreciate this shoe’s flexibility and energy return, which few competitors can boast at this level of comfort.

In summary, 2021 is a very good vintage for the Saucony Triumph, with a new version rich in improvements. We see little reason to pass upon it, especially if you’re looking for a comfortable premium shoe for your long runs. At the rear, the heel counter is rigid and padded, while the heel collar provides a snug fit for a soft foothold. The gusseted tongue is less padded than on the previous version (presumably to shave some more weight), but it doesn’t impact the comfort. For the 19, Saucony has refined the fit with a new mono-mesh upper. Lighter and more breathable, it was a favorite feature among our testers. “There was plenty of room in the toebox,” said one. “The upper material was easy to lace up and tighten around the midfoot, and my heel felt supported without the shoe fitting too snugly.”The midsole still features Saucony’s flagship cushioning technology: PWRRUN+. The ride feels excellent: athletes love the softness and responsiveness of the cushioning. The XT-900 carbon rubber has proven to be very effective on the Triumph 18, as well as on the majority of the brand’s road shoes. It was therefore logically renewed identically on the Triumph 19.
