About this deal

Boost will be relative to the pulley ratio in use, smaller pulley = more boost. But you want to keep the charger under the 16000rpm max. What carburetor can I use?

On a 1600cc VW engine, with the blower being driven 2.1:1 with the crank, it would produce approximately 5 psi, but the engine RPM must be limited to 8000 rpm. Most people will probably think heavy gear oil (aka diff oil gl-5 spec) is the go, but I'd advise against it. It will work, but it won't be ideal. Superchargers are in fact easier than turbochargers to install, but that does not by any means infer that they are easy. Here is a basic list of supercharging requirements:

Customer reviews

TLDR: I'm for sure going to attempt this, are there any other glaring technical flaws in my plan that I need to consider? I know DASC & GDK have both offered SC kits at a stage for these cars, those used a custom manifold. The HMW kit will be the largest and most comprehensive yet. Now you are no longer limited by one type or supercharger, you have the option of using a much larger SC than anybody else, you can even inter cool it! and best part, the kit will be priced around a grand or so, that's including the custom sc manifolds, belt, idler pulley's all powder coated & shipped anywhere in the world when it hits the market.

Pretty much all of this second concern is no longer even potentially an issue because modern generation synthetics aren't 'full' of those particular additives any more, but rather have been refined (as in 'developed' not as in extracted from the regular mineral based oil refinery process) to the point they are stable across a wide range of temps.. No lag.Turbochargers are powered by engine exhaust, meaning it takes time for them to spool up. Superchargers are driven directly from the engine's crankshaft, meaning instant power. Superchargers also make boost from a lower RPM than turbochargers, meaning you get your power even sooner. I have been supercharging BMW's for a good part of a decade now. And have my setups have gone around the world from races to shows. For those of you who have seen our work they know it to been mostly for the bigger engines as the M5x (6 cylinder cars). So I thought its time for a 4 cylinder project. I have first hand overseen this V4 project and worked on it with nearly a hundred man hours on the final prototypes. After I am done here, the 3D & CAD modeling team will take over, once they are done it will enter semi production stage in the factory. I estimate another 3 months before these are publicly released. On a 750cc four stroke, with the blower being driven 1.5:1 with the crank, it would produce approximately 15 psi boost. Another thing I'd add is that just as important as 'which oil' (maybe even more so) is to regularly make sure it's got enough oil in there, and if you can, change it every time you change the engine oil, or every 5000km if you aren't changing the engine oil as often. Since they only take a few hundred ml of oil (approximately, probably a bit less) it's not that expensive to change it that often.

Firstly, what can I say, thanks ever so much for your continued support, from not only yourself, but the whole team and your family for allowing you to invest so much time in the BMW custom tuning scene, you’re support has been invaluable and superb throughout so thank you. As far as drive ratio, on an A-series, like an A15, a 2:1 overdrive will put you in the 5 psi, providing you run an intercooler.Drivetrain upgrades.Supercharging is a large jump in power, even at the entry level! At a minimum expect to upgrade your clutch, or at the very least replace it with a fresh OEM one. Also take into consideration other drivetrain parts, such as axle strength and transmission health.
