About this deal

Greatest of these was the golden statue of Captain Remus Ventanus, the Saviour of Calth, fully a hundred metres high. The gateway sat atop a wide causeway of polished granite that led up from the desolate wastelands of Calth's radiation-ravaged surface. Built two thousand metres high and the equal of any of the great gates of Terra, it was a monumental piece of defensive architecture. Ultramarines heroes stood atop ouslite plinths in heroic poses all along the length of the causeway with their shields and heads lifted towards the deadly sun.

In the opening chapter of the novel The Chapter's Due by Graham McNeill, it states that Captain Ventanus was known as "Ventanus of the lost 6 th Chapter."

Contents

During the murderous betrayal of the Battle of Calth, it was this factor, above all else, which allowed the forces under his command to endure and triumph. By mid-006.M31, the Legio Praesagius was once again at full strength, now fully entrenched as wardens of the growing and prosperous forges of Gantz and renowned throughout Ultramar for their valour.

Fleet-Captain Zadkiel was tasked by Kor Phaeron himself to take the Furious Abyss to the Realm of Ultramar's capital world of Macragge and destroy it in an attempt to create as much havoc and destruction amongst the ranks of the XIII th Legion as was possible. Unusually, the book is written almost entirely in the present tense, purporting to be the official Imperial action report on the events of the battle, interlineated with the personal notes of Primarch Roboute Guilliman. In the subsequent battle that followed, Cestus' fleet was massacred by the giant battleship. The Loyalists took disastrous losses: the Fearless and Waning Moon, Ferox, Ferocious and the Boundless were all left as rotting carcasses in the void. The Abyss-class Battleship is most likely based off of the original Gothic Battleship from the White Dwarf 139 (UK), "Space Fleet," by Jervis Johnson and Andy Jones. Ten thousand standard years after the Battle of Calth, in early 999.M41 during the Invasion of Ultramar, Marneus Calgar, the Chapter Master of the Ultramarines, killed the Daemon Prince M'kar with the athame that Captain Uriel Ventris of the Ultramarines 4th Company had retrieved from Captain Ventanus' tomb.

Though they were diminished, the Legio fought bravely to the last in the hell-haunted ruins of Ithraca City as Calth's star died, ravaging the planet below. Every Titan of the Legio Praesagius on Calth sacrificed themselves in battle against the Legio Suturvora, allowing other loyal survivors to seek shelter and live to fight another day. Though the forces of Chaos were purged from Calth and the planet eventually became an industrial powerhouse once more, it continued to suffer from the effects of the Horus Heresy into M42. [10] ForcesAfter five solar days of arduous duelling with the mighty guncrawlers of Tentrion, the Legio Praesagius stood victorious, proving its prowess and the Imperium's noble intent in a statement of supremacy which awed the denizens of Tentrion peacefully into the fold of Imperial Compliance. They would pursue the Traitors and confront them when the time was right. They were now at war with their brothers, and they must prosecute the fight with all the strength and conviction that they would bring against any foe of Humanity. They would do so in the name of the Emperor, as always. During the Great Scouring, the Ultramarines, led by Captain Ventanus, presided over the destruction of the Word Bearers homeworld of Colchis. [2ad] In 999.M41, ten thousand years after the Heresy, Hol Beloth's Dark Apostle, Maloq Kartho, would revisit Ultramar as the Daemon Prince M'kar, though he was unable to set foot on Calth, declaring the world "anathema" to him.
