About this deal

Most tree stand accidents happen when climbing in or out of the stand. This is completely eliminated with a climber because you are always in your stand. The only time you climb in or out of your stand is at the base of the tree. If using a hang on with no arms or rail I hang a rope step on the right side to hang my crossbow. If compound bow I have a bow stand attached to my stand platform.... Never used that partivular model, but in the past, in my younger days, I used a hand climbing model. It was not too bad. Fairly easy to get used to , but I will say that it is easier in a stand up sit down unit. A good type of unit, one that I fell in love with the idea of, was the old man tree stands. They produced a Grand ol' man that had a built in gun / foot rest ( it would filp over depending on which way you wanted it ) Archery or Gun, and the mesh seat was very comfortable. The problem is, they ran into cash problems and such and wound up in bankruptcy. The brand kind of died, but you can see it ressurected almost exactly, now, as a gorilla treestand. I have not bought one, as I am older now and use more tower and ladder stands, but I have still heard some good things about them. You can buy rests to hook to them, to secure a gun or bow in, while you are climbing, and be perfectly safe.

The Summit Goliath is very similar to the Viper except that it is slightly bigger, making it the most comfortable climbing tree stand on the market.

DEADMETAL SOUND-DEADENING TECHNOLOGY: Critical parts of your tree stands platform are filled in with a custom-engineered expanding foam to reduce unintentional noises caused by movement on the platform.

Is it Easy to Shoot Standing Up? - Many hunters like to shoot standing up, so you need to consider how easy and quiet it is to stand up and move the seat out of the way. The best climbing tree stands have a seat that silently slides or folds out of the way so that you can stand and shoot without being detected. The Summit Open Shot is a great bowhunting stand. I had the first incarnation of it years ago when it was the first "Bushmaster" (but mine was steel) One of the great features of this stand is that the front bar can be put in the down position and used as a footrest if you prefer.Noise - Be sure to consider how quiet the climbing stand is. Obviously it is impossible to be completely quiet, but most manufacturers take steps in design and manufacturing to reduce the amount of noise the stand makes during setup, climbing and use. Ol'MAN Treestands has quite the history and we are proud to include the Alumalite CTS in our best climber stand roundup. Unlike climbing tree stands, ladder stands can also accommodate 2 hunters and are ideal for taking kids hunting.

For maximum concealment the Openshot features sound deadening (SD) technology to minimize startling noises in the field while the Mossy Oak Breakup Infinity camo keeps you from drawning unnecessary attention to yourself. The other thing to consider is the platform size, the entire stand is "compact" and the platform is going to be shorter up front than your Viper, I think by about 4". Pretty sure there is less butt room as well across the seat.
